Sharon passed away on July 15, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. It would be wrong to say that Sharon lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. When anyone else would have broken, Sharon stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly looks like. There was no quit in Sharon. Just because she is no longer here doesn’t mean she lost her fight. Though Sharon’s health had been failing for years, few people knew how much she struggled. Her joy for life and indomitable spirit kept her pushing through the pain.
Sharon was born in 1948 and grew up in Chicago, IL. She worked as a waitress/banquet manager at The Wishing Well Banquet Hall in Cicero for over 30 years and, most recently, at her favorite place, Old Fashioned Candies.
Sharon was a fun-loving, generous full-of-life woman. Anyone Sharon knew was considered family. She was passionate about volunteering for the Veterans at the Hines VA Hospital. Sharon loved calling bingo and bringing lunch for the spinal cord-injured veterans at the RCF building. Sharon would personally visit with each of the veterans and handwrite their cards for the holidays. She donated and collected funds for the Disabled American Veterans and the Fisher House, which helps with housing for the veterans and their families. She has played Mrs. Clause for Seguin Services, Palatine Fire Department, Animal Care Foundation, Paisans Pizzeria, Old Fashioned Candies & Madison Park Kitchen.
Sharon is survived by her husband Russel (Mac), their children Scott, Tara, and Rusty, and grandchildren Madisyn, Ty, Hunter, Riley, Kaylee, Rhys, and Knox, and all who called her “Ma.” The McClintock family invites you for a memorial service at Mt. Auburn Funeral Home on Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 4 to 8 pm. All are welcome.
