The Lord chose and trusted us to love and take care of one of his most precious angels, Aliyah Lynn Watson. It has truly been an honor. Aliyah was born to Kenitra Fantroy and Kenya Watson on September 1, 2007, along with her twin brother, Amari. She came into the world only weighing 1lb and 3oz, able to fit into the palm of our hands. That was the beginning of a journey filled with love and true dedication. The complications at birth caused her disability and forced her to have to use a wheelchair for mobility. She may have been bound to a wheelchair physically, but her spirit and smile could light up any room. No matter what she went through, she always had the biggest smile.
Although her time on earth was short, it was filled with a tremendous amount of love, happiness, and a lot of smiles. Her mother, grandmother, and big brother always made sure that she was included in everything, never to be left behind. Always a part of the plan. Aliyah attended school in the Henry County school district from age 3 – 14. When she was not in school, she was outside with her family at theme parks, water parks, zoos, aquariums, and beaches up and down the Florida coast. Even though she was a teenager, she was truly innocent in heart and mind, and loved to watch Nick Jr. and Disney Jr.
Aliyah spent many days visiting doctors and hospitals for treatments and procedures. She rolled into the doctor’s office smiling every single time. Aliyah’s spirit was so bright it often caused us to wonder, how could someone who goes through so much still manage to be so happy? We fed off her light and humbling energy. If she can go through all of this and still smile, how could we not smile through the tough times also? We are very grateful that the Lord trusted us to take care of his precious angel. Again, it has truly been an honor.
Aliyah was preceded in death by her twin brother, Amari Leon Watson; grandmother, Ms. Bobbie Jean Watson, and both sets of great-grandparents. Her life and precious memory will forever be cherished by her mother, Kenitra D. Fantroy; father, Kenya J. Watson; a very loving and dedicated big brother, Kylon D. Watson; oldest brother, Nakia Monroe; a very dedicated grandmother that has spent her retirement years loving and taking care of Aliyah, as if she were her own, Ms. Brenda G. Stallworth (thanks mom!); a loving grandfather, Leon Fantroy, Jr.; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and loving family friends.
