

Calvin served in the United States Navy during World War II, as well as the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from the Army Reserves. Calvin played fast pitch softball in Atlanta and played with American softball pitcher, The King and His Court. He achieved recognition in the Softball Hall of Fame. Calvin was also a gunsmith for more than 40 years.
Calvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mrs. Polly Wood; and sisters, Pauline Whitehead, Willie Waldrop, and Grace Wingard. He was a beloved brother, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving companion, Kellene; nieces, nephews and many friends.
A visitation of family and friends will be held for Calvin on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home - Fairview Chapel | 376 Fairview Road Stockbridge, Georgia 30281. A celebration of his life will occur Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 2:00 PM in Ward's Chapel. Services will conclude with graveside military honors and a committal service at Fairview Memorial Gardens | 164 Fairview Road Stockbridge, Georgia 30281.
