

Sgt. Daniel M. Mobley, 44, Jackson, Georgia, a respected Police Officer, passed away while on duty on January 2, 2021. Daniel was a dedicated citizen and served his community with honor and integrity.
Daniel started his career with the DeKalb County Police Department on June 29, 1998, soon after graduating high school in Stockbridge, Georgia. A natural-born leader, Sgt. Mobley, rose to the ranks of Sergeant on December 16, 2017. Motivated by the unselfish desire to serve those around him, Sgt. Mobley, was awarded multiple accolades for his bravery and decisive action in the midst of present danger. From assisting officers in locating and arresting the unjust to responding to suspicious calls and helping to remove drugs and dangerous weaponry from the street, Sgt. Mobley spent his career dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of the entire DeKalb Community.
During his 22 dedicated years of service, Sgt. Mobley provided instruction, guidance, backing, and bravery as an example of fine law enforcement in action. On the day of his passing, Sgt. Mobley could have been on his way home, but when he learned of his fellow officer in need of assistance, our modern-day hero came to ensure the safety of his Officer. Sgt. Daniel Mobley is the epitome of leadership and leaves a strict reminder of the importance of togetherness in the work of serving and protecting others.
Throughout his career and life, Sgt. Mobley exhibited consistent dedication to the safety of the public and his fellow officers through his commitment to the department and the citizens of DeKalb County. His devotion to the goodness in policing and his bravery in the face of mortal danger was unparalleled. He was a simple man with a love for humankind, a love for his animals, and a love of all things Ford. An avid Ford enthusiast, Daniel loved spending his spare time with his son, Eric, and working on cars and making them roar. Sgt. Mobley was a lover of his family and everything World War II. Daniel loved making yearly family trips to Florida and found a special place with nature in the mountains. He was a dedicated attendee at the annual DeKalb Air Shows and loved researching opportunities to see World War II planes and submarines. His simplicity of existence made it easy for him to enjoy the presence and live with contentment. Each day that Daniel ("Danny" to his family) would leave for work, he would never say goodbye or see you later, he would always depart his loved ones by saying, ENJOY!
Daniel is survived by his father and mother, Robert and Fronie DuVall (Panama City, FL), Son Eric Mobley (Covington, GA), love of his life, Christina Muse (Jackson, GA) ad her children Haley Coarsey (Jackson, GA) and Anthony Donoghue (Jackson, GA) and a host of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, friends, and his DeKalb County Police Department family.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, Funeral services will be held by private invitation.
