Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Donnie Tweed and Sarah Ann Edwards; his stepmother, Patricia Tweed; and his sister, Vicki Lynn Tweed Duron. Though their loss was deeply felt, Donald’s life remained full of purpose and love through those he leaves behind.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Karmen Tweed, who stood faithfully by his side. He was a proud and faithful father to his son Daniel (Tiffany) Tweed—his greatest joy in life. Donald raised Daniel as a single father, never failing to remind him, “Who has the best son ever?” To which Daniel always replied, “You, Dad.”
Donald also leaves behind his brother Robert (Beth) Tweed, sister Gina (James) Scott, and his loyal grandsons Andrew, Jacob, and Matthew Tweed. His nieces—affectionately called “The Promised Daughter”—Lillian (Dustin) Coggin and Monica (Harry) Hyaduck, and nephews Robert (Victoria) Tweed Jr., Michael Tweed, and Jeremy (Kailynne) Mitchell, each held a special place in his heart. Great-nieces Bianca Duran, Sophia Hyaduck, Victoria Coggin, and great-nephews Harrison Hyaduck and Cassius Mitchell will continue to cherish the memories of their fun-loving uncle.
Donald’s heart overflowed for his family, especially “The Great Crazy 8”—a beloved group of children and grandchildren who were the highlight of his life. Whether it was tea parties, toy cars, or wrestling matches on TV, Donald never missed an opportunity to make their lives brighter.
He was a man of deep faith who found joy in reading his Bible and playing drums at church. His passions also included watching NASCAR, listening to rock and roll, reading, wearing flip-flops year-round, drinking sweet tea, and savoring every McRib he could find.
In honor of Donald’s love for children and his generous spirit, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to:
