Dorothy Bond of Ellenwood, GA died August 25th at the age of 88, preceded in death by her husband of 13 years, Elijah Morris Bond and by 2 step-children and one step grandchild. She was the daughter of Glynn and Gertie Stanley.
"Dot" graduated as valedictorian from Southwest DeKalb High School in 1946. She was employed by Equitable Life Assurance Society for 21 years, then retired on disability.
Mrs. Bond was affectionately known as “Mama Dot” and was a faithful member of Anvil Block United Methodist Church where she worked with youth and taught Sunday School for 52 years. She was editor of the Charge Newsletter and served in the UMW. "Mama Dot", as many youth called her, is survived by four step grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren, 2 step great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Horis A. Ward's Fairview location from to 4pm to 6pm on Sunday, August 27th, and from 1pm to 2pm on Monday, August 28th with the funeral service beginning at 2pm Monday at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home- Fairview Chapel with Richard Barns officiating. Interment will be at Masters Cemetery.
