Hazel Virginia professed a hope in Christ at the age of 10. She was baptized at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. What a glorious day this was for her. She joined the choir and sang with an angelic voice. At her homegoing, she was a member of Eastern Star Church in Indianapolis, Indiana.
She was united in marriage to Rodney Thomas Davis in August, 1963 which was later resolved. This union was blessed with four children, Eric Perry, Nicole Charisse, Renee Danielle Davis and William Thomas Davis, Jr., a nephew who she raised as a son.
"Hazee" as some family and friends called her, was a graduate of Indianapolis Public Schools. She attended School #63 and Crispus Attucks High School in which she graduated with honors. She furthered her education, receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree from Indiana University-Bloomington and her Master of Science Degree from Indiana University Purdue University in Indianapolis (IUPUI). She was a dedicated school teacher for Indianapolis Public Schools for 34 years.
To all family and friends, Hazel was only a phone call away. She was a great talker and a fantastic listener.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Hazel Virginia Davis departed this life on Friday, August 17, 2012 at the age of seventy-four years.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Nicole Oliver and Renee Hill, (W. Bernard Hill); two sisters, M.
