

Mother Joan Porter was born February 8, 1933 in Centralia, Illinois. She is predeceased by parents, Robert and Mary Jackson, sister Evangelist Barbara Bolton, (Apostle Dr. Kenneth), and brother Robert Jackson, Jr.
She was raised in Battle Greek, Michigan and then moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan where she studied and became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), later she went on to work for General Motors, as a Sewing Machine Operator. She was an active member of the United Auto Workers (UAW) and a member of the American Legion Post in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She retired after 33 years.
Mother Porter owned and operated a Pizza Shop for approximately 7 years and then finally stopped working. In zon she moved to California to spend time with her adult children and her grandchildren for 4 years. In 2015, she moved to Georgia to be with more adult children and grandchildren.
She loved working crossword puzzles and carried a book of puzzles with her almost everywhere she would go. Her solutions were always written in ink - Mother Porter never made mistakes with her answers! Gardening was another favorite pastime. She would plant squash and plenty of tomatoes. Her tomato plants had to be the "Celebrity" brand. No other type would satisfy her taste buds!
Upon the confession of Faith, Mother Porter was fellowshipped into Dixon Grove Baptist Church on the 4th of December, 2016 and subsequently became a member of the Mother Board. She loved being with the other Mothers - They had a bond!
On Wednesday. October 9, 2024. Mother Porter transitioned from this life into Glory at Jonesboro Nursing and Rehabilitation in Jonesboro. GA.
She is survived by a loving sister, Phyllis Scott of Orlando, FL; her beloved children. Queen West of Merida, Mexico; Sha-Ron Rosignon (Oscar) of Jonesboro, GA: Rev. Chaplain Sabrina McGavock (Wesley) of Tampa, FL; Michael Porter of Inkster. MI; and Rev. Anthony Porter (Nicy) of Fallbrook, CA. Also she leaves to cherish her memory 12 Grandchildren, 20 Great-Grandchildren, + Great-Great Grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, favorite cousin Dr. Marlin McNichols, her church family, more cousins and countless friends.
