Joe Lindsey Gay

Joe Lindsey Gay entered into his beautiful eternal life with Jesus on March 3, 2026.

Joe is survived by Angie Holdren (Dave) daughter. Marty Gay (Linda) son. Darren Gay (Teresa) son. Gene Gay, brother. Jimmie Gay (Juanita) brother. Judy Farmer (Charlie) sister. Joe has 10 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

Our dad is preceded in death by Lona Gay our beautiful mother and the love of his life for almost 70 years. They are together now.

Our dad was so proud to be a Navy veteran. He served this wonderful country in the Korean War (1950 – 1954). He served on the U.S.S. Hector as a Machinist. He started out driving a tractor trailer after his discharge and eventually ended up in Forest Park, Ga. working for a truck lines until they closed. He then began one of his biggest adventures driving a school bus for Henry County until he retired at 80 years old. He and my mother loved their church and their friends and he served as a deacon for 25+ years.

The memories of our dad are too many to write but he loved to garden, tell a good joke, sit outside and read his newspaper and loved his cats. His backyard was a safe haven for many creatures big and small. He loved his deer, opossums, raccoons and goldfish.

He was devoted to his Lord and his family and we will miss him every day. Marty, Darren and I could not have been more blessed by the man that God gave us to be our father.

Visitation of Family and Friends will be held at Horis A. Ward - Fairview Chapel | 376 Fairview Rd, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281, on March 10, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A celebration of Joe's life will take place at Ward's Chapel at 12:00 noon. Services will conclude with graveside military honors and committal at Fairview Memorial Gardens | 164 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281 at 1:00 pm.
