Katherine was preceded in death by her loving parents, JT and Lula Hayes; her siblings Rushel Hayes, Zelma Hensley, and Chris Hayes; her devoted husband, Wayman Echols; and her cherished daughter, Linda Echols. Though her family circle has changed, her legacy of love and generosity lives on in those who survive her.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Sara Hayes, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly and who will forever hold her memory close.
Katherine worked in sales at department stores, where her friendly spirit and tireless work ethic left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike. She had a talent for making others feel welcomed and valued, and her dedication to service extended far beyond the workplace.
In honoring Katherine’s memory, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to two causes close to her heart: the Children's Hospital of Atlanta – Scottish Rite and the Fairview Library.
Katherine’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
