Laverne Buchanan- Chatham, age 68, of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home - Fairview Chapel at 1pm, with Darrell Portwood officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge.
Mrs. Buchanan- Chatham was born February 28 in Atlanta to Mary Cash Vines and Rev. Coleman Hugh Vines. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Monroe. She is survived by: husband, Walter Ray Chatham; children, Robert H Buchanan Sr., Mary Denise (Tony) Penny, Angela Lee (Brad) McKay and Mary Elizabeth (Jason) Stidham; father, Rev. Coleman Hugh Vines; siblings, Coleman Grady Vines and Michael David Vines; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; 6 nieces & 7 nephews
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Cash Vines; siblings Bonnie Rose Carter, Dorothy Ruth Holder and James Lee Vines.
