Marshall Carpenter

Born in Olive Hill, Kentucky, Marshall later made his home in Stockbridge, Georgia, where he built not only a life, but a legacy rooted in faith, family, and hard work. A dedicated and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and great-grandfather, he was the steady foundation his family could always rely on.

Marshall proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. His time in service reflected his strength, discipline, and deep sense of duty—qualities that stayed with him throughout his life.

He was also well known for his work in sheetrock, a craft he took great pride in. He often shared stories of the many places around town where his hands had helped build something lasting—a reflection of the quiet strength and skill he carried throughout his life.

Above all, Marshall was the most unselfish man his family knew. His heart was generous, his spirit kind, and his love unwavering. He found his greatest joy in his family and in his faith in God, living each day with compassion, humility, and devotion. He was caring, loving, and deeply God-centered, leaving an example that will continue to guide those who knew him.

Marshall is survived by his caring and loving daughters, Shannon Carpenter, Patricia Webb (Lewis), and Sherry Mitchell (Mitch). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brandon Carpenter, Dakota Ferguson (Brittany), Shelby Ferguson, Cassidy Webb, Dustin Webb, Alex Pilgrim (Matt), and Blake Mitchell; as well as his great-grandchildren, Jaxon Jinks, Eli Ferguson, and Theo Ferguson.

Marshall was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 53 years, Phyllis Turner Carpenter, his mother, Herma Carpenter Harding, brother Larry Dawley and sister Mary Jane Dawley Cutler.

“Pawpaw” will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who had the blessing of knowing him. .

A Graveside Celebration of Life will be held at Camp Memorial Cemetery, 1095 GA-54 E, E, Fayetteville, GA 30214, US, on April 20, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
