

Michael was born in Asheville North Carolina on March 20, 1949.
Michael enjoyed traveling and was lucky enough to be able to visit his ancestral Scotland. He enjoyed collecting various firearms and was a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of the Griffin gun club. Michael also loved to hunt big game and trout fish during his several trips to Montana. He was fiercely proud of his Scottish Heritage and was careful to attend each annual local Scottish festival as a Patron.
Michael started working as a Fireman at Clayton County Fire Department on January 11, 1971 and retired with the rank of Lieutenant on April 11, 2003 with a total of 32 years of service and accruing a large Fire Department family. After retirement, he spent his time divided between family outings, traveling and working on projects around the home.
Michael was predeceased by his mother and father, Hazel and M.E. Gordon; sister and brother-in-law, Maryann and Julian Lovern; brother, Frank Brock; and his beloved wife, Mrs. Ellen Gordon.
Michael is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Aundrea and Mac Wheeler, son and daughter-in-law Jason and Amanda Gordon, son and daughter-in-law Steven and Lori Gordon; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Bonnie Sue Upchurch; sister-in-law, Connie Brock; ten grandchildren, Aubrey, Austin, Bryson, Desire’, Emily, Gracee, Jamie, Keelee, London, and Rylee; and one great grandson, Carter.
A visitation of family and friends will be held for Michael on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home - Fairview Chapel | 376 Fairview Road Stockbridge, Georgia 30281. A celebration of his life will occur Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Ward's Chapel.
