Phyllis Magalene Philmon (Gauldin) was born in North Carolina on March 12, 1940 and was the last child in her family of ten children.
When Phyllis was five years old she moved to Atlanta, Georgia and resided in Stockbridge for the last thirty years. Before her retirement, she was head of the Jonesboro Branch Public Library, and was part of the Clayton County library system for over thirty years. Phyllis is survived by her children Buddy (Jan) Adams, Rick (Kathy) McNabb, and Rebecca (Mike) Henley, seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Aside from being an avid reader and board game player, Phyllis cherished her time at home with her husband Lee, who preceded her in death in 2016. Many memories were made between Lee, Phyllis, and their cocker spaniel Sabrina on their swing in the backyard and swimming in their pool. Phyllis was well spoken, well educated, and could cook a meal that would have you thinking about it days later.
She will be greatly missed and loved forever.
A visitation of family and friends for Phyllis will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Horis A. Ward - Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Rd, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281, followed by a celebration of life memorial service and reception at 1:00 PM.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.horisawardfairviewchapel.com for the Philmon family.
