Stephen Ernest Bonner, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025, in Jackson, Georgia. Born on September 18, 1952, in Atlanta to William and Elizabeth Anne Bonner, Steve lived a life rich with love and purpose that touched the hearts of many.
Steve is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Deborah R. Bonner; their two sons James Ernest “Jimmy” Bonner and William Stephen “Sonny” Bonner; daughter-in-law Jennie Bonner; grandchildren Archer Bonner; Arlie Cook; Ashton Cook; Anna Cook; Joshua Tumlin; Molly Bonner; as well as great-grandson Wheeler Greenway. He also leaves behind cherished family members including brother-in-law Bill Adcock II and sister-in-law Janet Adcock along with nephew Bill Adcock III and niece Lori Comeau.
In his younger years, Steve found joy riding and showing horses alongside his cousins. He embraced the outdoors through fishing and hunting—activities that brought him peace amidst nature’s beauty.
Professionally dedicated for over five decades to the electrical industry, Steve was not only a skilled tradesman but also a mentor who profoundly influenced several lives throughout his career. Many remember him for his unwavering support—always ready to lend guidance or share wisdom with those just starting out or navigating challenges within their careers.
A passionate coach at heart, Steve took immense pride in guiding his sons through baseball games while actively contributing to the development of Cochran Park—a testament to both his commitment to community service and nurturing young talent. His legacy will forever resonate among those whose lives he enriched through sportsmanship and camaraderie.
As we celebrate Steve’s remarkable journey filled with laughter shared around campfires under starlit skies or quiet moments spent casting lines into tranquil waters—we honor a man whose kindness knew no bounds. He leaves behind memories woven together by love: from family gatherings overflowing with warmth to simple acts of generosity that defined who he was at heart.
Though our world feels dimmer without him here physically—it is illuminated by all he gave us during his time among us—the lessons learned from hard work ethic instilled within each generation following after him will continue shining brightly forward like beacons guiding future paths ahead.
