Vickie Slocumb Kent

Vickie Lynn Slocumb Kent, a vibrant soul of 70 years, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, August 25, 2024, in Dalton, Georgia, a place she called home, though her roots stretched back to Stockbridge, Georgia, and even further to her birthplace in Kentucky on November 17, 1953.

Vickie was not just a name; she was a beacon of love and strength. Throughout her life, she wore many hats—devoted wife, nurturing mother, beloved grandmother, cherished aunt, and trusted friend. Her career as a manager at The Kroger Company showcased her remarkable leadership and dedication, but it was her warm heart and caring nature that truly defined her.

Her love story with Robert James Kent was one for the ages. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, support, and countless cherished memories. Sadly, Vickie faced the world without Robert after his passing on January 24, 2020, but their bond remains unbroken, living on in the hearts of those they touched.

Vickie's legacy is beautifully woven into the lives of her devoted children: Dustin Wilder, Coy (Sarah) Wilder, Charles (Kevin) Slocumb-Luis, Brandon (Sarah) Kent, Tiffanie Kent, and Tiffany (Josh Davis) Wilder. The love she poured into her family is reflected in her grandchildren—Katelyn Wilder, Natalie Wilder, Faith Kent, Lilly Kent, Paige Davis, Alissa Wilson, Allison Davis, Dylan Allen, and Kalieb Wilder.

In addition to her immediate family, Vickie leaves behind a vast circle of relatives and friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. Her life, rich in love and kindness, will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visitation for Vickie will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Liberty Baptist Church, 1410 Valley Hill Road, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM. Interment will immediately follow in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
