November 27, 1927-February 16, 2015
Conrad Mar passed away surrounded by his family on February 16, 2015. He was born November 27, 1927 in Canton, China. At the age of 5, he moved to California and made Stockton his home at the age of 10. Stockton is where he spent most of his life as a loving husband, doting father, and passionate community leader. He served the State of California for over 40 years and obtained one of the highest ranked positions held by an Asian American in the State's correctional system as Deputy Commissioner on the California State Board of Prison Terms. Conrad was passionate about the Chinese American community and served faithfully to promote Chinese cultural awareness. He served as president of the Chinese Cultural Society, Cathay Club, and the Stockton Chinese Benevolent Association. Outside of his community efforts, Conrad was most importantly a family man who loved spending time with his wife and two children. Conrad will always be remembered for his generosity, go-getter attitude, and selfless acts of kindness. He is survived by his wife, Shu-Ping, his son, Jason, and his daughter, Lisa.
