Mr. Edwin Charles Snyder

SNYDER, Edwin C. Beloved Husband, Brother, Uncle and Friend, Ed passed away from cancer on September 5, 2014. Born on August 7, 1937 in Footville, Wisconsin to Owen and Viola Snyder, Ed graduated from Janesville Senior High School (1955) and the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1959) before serving in the U.S. Army. After being honorably discharged, he began his professional career in sales with Schlitz Brewing and quickly worked his way up through the ranks to Vice President of Marketing. His career found him living in several locations over the years including New York, Tampa, Spain, Southern California and finally, San Francisco, where he worked for Geyser Peak as a wine broker. He later changed his career direction and joined Wisdom Imports as Vice President of Marketing and Distribution before once again reinventing himself and earning his teaching credential at Notre Dame de Namur University. Ed then spent many years as a valued and adored teacher at Roosevelt Elementary School in Daly City, CA, before retiring and maintaining dual residences in San Francisco and Stockton. Ed cherished San Francisco and readily enjoyed all the city had to offer. Being a lover of both the arts and sports, he was a San Francisco Opera and SF Giants season ticket holder for the past several years, as well as an avid 49er fan and a member of the San Francisco Elk’s Lodge. He was an accomplished pianist and would often entertain friends and family with his musical talent. Ed is survived by his husband, David Cerda; brother Owen Snyder; sister Julia (Richard) Meredith; and several nieces and nephews who adored and admired him: Elaine (William) Sullivan; Scott (Daniele) Erdmann; Owen (Linda) Snyder, Jr.; Dana (Steve) Kinzer; Todd (Elizabeth) Snyder; Joey (Janet) Snyder; and was preceded in death by his nephew Marshall (Jackie) Erdman. Ed was a much-loved man with a quick laugh and a warm heart and will be missed by many, many friends. A memorial service celebrating Ed’s life will held on September 16, 2014, 1:00 p.m., at Morris Chapel, University of the Pacific, 3601 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, CA.
