"Jean" was born in Chadron,

Nebraska, to

Frederick and Margaret Shipkey on January 28, 1923 and entered into eternal rest on August 16, 2010 at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 19 years, George B. McGowan; sisters, Mary Shipkey, Gretchen Olson, Amy Lou Dohrmann, and Alma Shipkey. She is survived by her brother, Dr. Frederick (Verena) Shipkey, daughters Patricia (Mike) Grace, Maureen (John) Biggar, grandchildren, Adam Grace, Anne (Steve) Parker, Blair and Sean Biggar, great-grandchildren

Donovan and Nathaniel Parker. Jean was a loving mother who was proud of her family and dedicated her life to serving others through the field of nursing. She worked nine years at St. Joseph's Hospital and 24 years with the San Joaquin County Public Health Department. She volunteered many hours with the Stockton Symphony and dedicated her retirement years to working with the Assistance League of Stockton. In lieu of flowers please donate to the American Cancer Society and/or the Assistance League of Stockton. Services are not being held at Jean's request, and we do not want to go against her wishes.
