My name is Albert Singletary Jr . Even though I never knew you , or my grandfather I always wanted to. See I never knew my father , my family moved away from L.A. when I was a baby to get away from my father . So I have no idea about my Singletary family. But I wanted to let you know that I made something of myself and I'm a good man and a good father to 4 beautiful children ,so I did it tell my grandfather that he can be proud of the grandson he never got to meet 

Hi Dad,
Well I thought my last entry was going to be it but something wonderful happened and I wanted to share it with you. Remember I was taking the GED test well after 37 years of being out of school and 3 months of testing, I am proud to let you know I Passed the test I have my GED finally. I could not have passed without the support and help from Jim, Linda and Robert. This really means a lot Dad I know your proud and felt you dancing when I found out the results. Mom was so happy and sad to cause you are not here to share this but I told her you knew and that helped but she is missing you more everyday watch over her Dad and show her comfort when you can. One month ago, today you left this life to go be with your family in Heaven it has been a rough month Dad we miss you, but we know you are happy and peaceful...Love Sandy

I was glad we were able to know our family at Pleasant Hill, New Mexico during the reunions.  It was great to have Francis and Peggy with us.  I know they enjoyed our time together as well.

Hi Dad,
Well it has been almost one month since Mom, Linda and I stood beside your bedside as you took your last breath, it is truly one of the hardest things to witness but I am thankful you were not alone.
Several times during the past year, you said you had a dream of your Mom telling you 85 is your limit, well you were two months and one day shy of your 85th birthday when you passed away. During the week, you were in the hospital you mentioned you saw your brother Albert I believe Albert was the one who came to meet you the morning you left, which makes since he was your protector when you were a little boy.
I hope your pleased with all we have done to show we love and miss you since your passing.Mom doesn’t know what to do with herself she was always doing things for you so going to take her awhile to adjust she misses you very much.
This is my last entry to your book Dad so just wanted you to know we love and miss you, remember to put a word in with the lotto god. Watch over us and Rest In peace Dad.

Dear Cindy, Ruth and family, 
I have been thinking of you and praying for you all since I heard about Uncle Frances.  I can't stop thinking of how he must have felt that first day in heaven!  I was reminded of the verses that say, 'when did we see you hungry and feed you or naked and clothe you....and the Lord said, when you did it to the least of these, you did it to me.'

That to me was Uncle Frances.  I only knew him when I was younger, but this was so like him.  He didn't even think twice about IF he should help...he and Ruth just did...it's a part of who they are!  How blessed you must feel to have actually been 'chosen' by them to receive their special kind of love and kindness!  We share in your loss and will be praying for you and the family.  May God give His overflowing comfort and grace to each of you in these days ahead!

Our family will never be the same without you.  We are forever changed; both by your life and by your death.  You were the Patriarch, the head of the house.  We did not always agree but we respected this.
  
Now I find I am left with so many memories. They crash through my mind making me laugh and making me cry.  I find myself asking so many what ifs.  What if Shirley didnt marry Sonny; what if I didnt walk home with Sandy that day; what if you and mom didnt tell me I was finally home.  There would have been no butter on the arm, no card games, no bad jokes..over and over again..and no papa-san.
  
As I watched tonight and said a final goodbye I know you were not really there.  I know that when you breathed your last breath on this earth that your next breath was taken in the presence of our Father in Heaven.  Now you are singing and dancing with the angels.  What a vision that must be!  I dont think I ever saw you dance or heard you sing.  Someday I will though and someday we will all join you.

Until that day I will miss you more than words can say.  I find myself blessed and cursed at the same time.  It is an unspeakable heartache to lose a parent.  Now I have lost two dads.  But, more importantly I HAD two dads.  For that, I am eternally grateful.
 
Thank you for being my dad.  You didnt have to.  You had a choice.  And I love you for the choice you made.  Life will not be the same.  Your absence leaves emptiness.  Going home will never be the same without you being there.

Hi Dad,
Well it's been almost two weeks that I, Linda and Mom stood at your bedside as you took your last breath and I'm so thankful we were there with you. You were very peaceful so maybe that is why the song There will be Peace in the Valley for me somedayhas played in my head sense your last breath was taken.
It's strange here at home I keep expecting you to walk out on the back porch and say Garden looks good Sandy or Did you get my Lotto.
But the back porch remains empty and its just sad, I'm thankful Dad for the gift you gave me 24 hrs prior to your passing without that I don't believe I would be feeling the peace that I do .
 Mom misses you, you were her partner for 58yrs she talks about you a lot and is thankful your stress and worry free for once in your life. Your dog misses you too she wonders around looking for you or sits by your chair waiting for you to show up. Chad took her for a walk the other day she stopped dead in her tracks where you used to stop with her and wouldn't go any further.
You gave me signs during the weeklong stay at the hospital that you wouldn't be coming home and I'm so thankful you clammed down the last few days so you could go be with your family in peace, You sure knew how to get on my last nerve but I love you Dad. Watch over us and if you have any pull up there put in a word with the lotto god will ya. Love your daughter Sandy.

You will be missed, I will forever remember the first time I met you three years ago, It was my first family event and didn't know very many in the family just yet, but you made me feel welcome. I thank you for that. I will also never forget the first time I felt excepted in your eyes in your family Sept 18,2010 it was also the last time I seen you and the first time you ever hugged me to tell me good-bye. 

I will also never forget the look on Chad's face when he tells the story's of his teenage years that included you and him doing yard work (Chad did the work you got the jobs) “Team Work” as Chad says with his funny grin. The memories Chad has told me of things you two have done and interests you two shared in the past always make us laugh. 

Not to long ago we went to an airplane museum, we past all the airplane’s he pointed to some from the past and told me did you know my grandpa was in the army? And my Uncle Jimmy flew one like that…Right then I could see the kid come out in him, and as he looked back toward the airplanes Chad shared with me a memory of you taking him to the airport to watch the airplanes take off and come home.

Francis, You will be missed. How do I thank you for welcoming me into your life. From the moment we meet, you made me feel welcome and a part of your family. Your firm handshake and welcoming smile was more like an invitation to the family rather then a first meeting. Your gift of gab, sharp wit, sense of humor and crazy antics, Arm Buttering , as an example, will always be memories I will cherish. I can hear it now " What up Robert" rings in my ears every time you said hello. I will miss those words, but not only the words but the sincerity in which they were said. I know in my heart you went to a better place of peace and comfort. I also know that now you can look down on all your family and watch over them as you always have. Francis you were loved my many, and I an honored to be one of those who loved you. I have been struggling with how to say goodbye to you. So I have decided not to say goodbye, but rather I will see you again sometime in the future. So for now I will just turn the tables and say, "What up Francis", and not to worry I will follow your lead and make sure I get you a Lottery Ticked every week as you always have. Thank you and your family for allowing me the honor of being a part of your lives.

Well the start of the Singletary legacy has laid his head to rest, but shall not be forgotten. I thank you Grandpa for your oh so funny jokes, no matter if it was the third time you were telling it to me, they were always funny. I cant thank you enough for teaching my son about the birds and the bee's..a lesson he shall pass on to his children w/pride in honor of his papa. I will definitely miss your awesome smile and your bushy eyebrows. Forever love grandpa...may you find love, peace and happiness in that beautiful blue sky.

Hi Dad, thank you for being a loving father to us kids and husband to mom.  Telling Sandy TOO-DO-LOO and that you love her has lifted her heart and spirits.   I will never forget all the motivation you gave me the day I left for ERAU.  You asked if I was smart enough to get through college.  In my mind that was your way of telling me you loved me, you believed in  me, and how proud a Dad you were. 

 I am happy I got to see you on Monday, tell you bye and that I love you before I flew to Johannesburg.  I was flying as you passed on to heaven and you were the best copilot I could have next to me. You were there and will always be with me on my wing.  

When you see Uncle Albert, tell him I will always cherish the memory you gave me when we went fishing with Uncle Albert and Aunt Yvonne.   I caught that Trout just before dinner it was the best fish I ever had.

Sandy you are the best sister a brother could have.  You are the strongest mother and daughter there is and have gained a million points.  I love you, I am blessed that you are my sister and friend.

Linda you have and always will be my life, my wife, and best partner and friend I could have.  I love you, your pilot.  Thank you for all the help you gave while I was away.  You have gained a million points. 

Keep flying high Dad and reaching for stars.  I love you, your son.  James Francis Singletary.

I'm so glad that Cindy was up to visit last weekend. We are so sorry for the vacancy now in your hearts. I'm praying that God would bless you with His Spirit to comfort you all and to give you the kindest and joyful memories of him. Remember the times you laughed together about silly things. And know that we are praying for you and we are grieving also for the loss.

I love you and will never forget you Uncle Francis (my favorite uncle.)  You were there for my family when times were tough.  You smeared butter on my arm one night at the dinnertable, cracked everyone up (except me 'cuz I was in shock,) but I loved the attention!
