Mr. Gabriel Julius Huerta Sr. of Stockton, also known as “Gravy” to family and close friends, died peacefully at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Stockton, California on October 1, 2017, at the age of 53. He was surrounded by his parents, wife, children, siblings, in-laws, and close family and friends. Gabriel was born to his beloved mother Elisa Meza Huerta and father Nicholas Herman Huerta on March 6, 1964 in Stockton, California. He attended High School at Lincoln and spent over 30 years working in the industrial field. The past 13 years of his professional career was spent working at the Defense Distribution Depot in Tracy, where he was recognized and honored for his diligence and outstanding service. Gabriel was baptized and a member of Presentation. He enjoyed attending church service with his mother, studying the bible, exchanging spiritual thoughts with his sister, Maria (Little One), spending time with his lovely wife and their beautiful children. Cars were also his passion. He enjoyed fixing them up and tearing them apart. He was pleased that his eldest son Gabriel Jr. shared the same passion for cars and he loved that they could talk for hours about cars, how to make them run faster, and sound meaner. He loved Danielle’s zest for life, the way she cared for his grandson (Binky), and how she “stepped up” when things started getting more difficult. He enjoyed witnessing the musical talents of Lea, was impressed with her level of maturity, and overjoyed with her decision to pursue higher learning. Mathew, his baby, he enjoyed his artistic spirit, watching him dance, and his commitment to family. Gabriel is preceded in death by his loving niece Regina Teresa Martinez, and dear father-in-law Rothell O. Williams. He leaves behind to cherish fond memories his parents Nicholas and Elisa Huerta; his wife Syreeta Ann Huerta, their four children, and grandson: Danielle Rochelle Ann Vasquez, Gabriel Julius Huerta Jr., Lea Ann Huerta, Mathew Rosario Huerta, and grandson Carlos O’Miguel Valladares; mother-in-law: Mrs. Patsie Ann Williams; five brothers and sisters: Nicholas Herman Huerta II, Catherine Olivia Alire, Christine Lorraine Martinez, Maria Elisa Hutsell, and Michael Anthony Huerta; five brother-in-laws: Bernardo Cruz Alire, Daniel Jerome Martinez, Jeffrey Scott Hutsell, Rothell O. Williams Jr., and Devin T. Williams Sr.; four sister-in-laws: Gena Huerta, Jacqueline Huerta, Anitra Williams, and Robbie Williams; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, god-daughter, cousins, and friends. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Oncology staff at St. Joseph’s Medical Center, his primary Oncologist-Dr. Aminder Mehdi, the Hospice of San Joaquin staff, the genuine support and care from his work family at the Defense Distribution Depot, the dear family members and close friends who visited day in and day out, Christine, Michael, and Little One (Maria) for traveling from out of state remaining by his side, Cathy also known as his second mom, big brother Nick for being there to comfort their mom, Uncle Lucky for that “fresh shave”, his loving mother-in-law for never missing a day and being Rita’s pillar, in-laws, all nieces, uncles, aunts, and nephews for their presence and support of Syreeta, special thanks to Anitra and Tuan for facilitating and expediting care while hospitalized, his longtime friend Donald, and to all who prayed and showed support during his final days. Lastly, Gabriel Julius Huerta Sr. would like to thank his beautiful wife Syreeta, for never leaving his side and for helping him fight this battle over the course of nine years. It was your love that gave him strength. He would also like to recognize his children for their unique talents and gifts. His one wish for each of you, is that you challenge yourselves, and reach your full potential in life. Never give up or make excuses because your bloodline is strong--Huerta/Williams strong.
