Junior is survived by his wife, Alice Duque; children, Andena Quintana, Alan Duque, Alfie Regnier, Anita Duque, Grant Duque, Christina Hom; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Junior was born on December 17, 1933 in Pangasinan, P.I. He was the only child of Irenia Guting and Generoso Duque Sr. He began his career as an ambulance attendant in New York City before relocating to Canada to train as an X-ray technician. He dedicated his life to this field working at San Francisco General Hospital and at the Oakland Naval Base until he retired in 1995.
Junior met Alice, when she was working as a computer operator at the former Presidio Army Base in 1965. They both worked tirelessly as civilian service employees raising six children. In their spare time, they enjoyed squeezing the kids into the camper for trips to the beach or crabbing off the pier. When they retired, they enjoyed playing tennis, growing fruit trees, singing karaoke, and relishing in the accomplishments of their children and grandchildren.
Junior liked anywhere there was an ocean breeze. A diehard 49er Faithful, long before that became mainstream, he was known for his quick wit and charm. His kids remember “Pop,” as a loving and steadfast father, always humble, always fair, dedicated to his family, hard-working, ever patriotic, and resolute in his pursuit for a better life for his kids, and their kids after.
A service is scheduled for March 1, 2025 from 12pm - 5 pm at DeYoung Memorial Chapel at 601 N California St in Stockton. Junior’s sister in-law Teresita Ticong will lead the prayer. Condolences can be sent to Alice Duque at 2255 S. Harrison St., Stockton, CA, 95206.
