J.B. Parrott was born August 30, 1920 in Shreveport, LA to parents Pauline and Pinkney (Jim) Parrott. He was the youngest of 5 children. His parents soon moved to Mesquite, TX where he spent his formative years. Schooling was sporadic at best because "the fields had to be tended to."
On December 7, 1941, Pearl Harbor was bombed. Although he'd never heard of Pearl Harbor, on January 13, 1942 he raised his right hand and joined the United States Army. He proudly served his country in the Pacific Theater during WWII.
At wars end, he eventually settled in Stockton, CA working at Sharpe Army Depot until he retired in 1983.
Jay, as he was affectionately known, loved his family until the end, and he will be missed by most.
He was a humble man but touched many lives.
