Janet passed away Nov 27, 2022, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born in Fresno, California, to Wilfred and Marjorie Bennetts, on September 5, 1931. She was the fourth child in a large family of 7 children, Robert, Gordon, Barbara, Stanley, Lory and Ellen. Janet grew up on the family farm and attended the local Presbyterian church. She made many friends and especially enjoyed her cousins. She graduated from Fowler High School in 1948.
Upon graduation she enrolled in the nursing program at Merritt Hospital in Oakland, California. While attending she met her future husband, Perry T. Goodman. He was a Naval Officer stationed in the Bay Area. They married in August 1950 and had their first child, Deborah Susan in 1951. Two years later, after a move to Pennsylvania, they had their second child, Richard Perry. That was followed by another move back to California and then came their third child, Marjorie Ellen.
The family settled in Clovis California for many years followed by a move to Stockton, California. After raising her family, Janet began her working career at Northwestern Mutual Insurance. After a few years she moved on to Duraflame, Inc and finally settled in at Beaver Chemical where she worked for many years until she retired at age 70.
Janet was the anchor of the family and hosted holiday dinners every year until the tradition was passed on to her children. Many great memories were shared and experiences throughout the years as the family continued to grow.
Janet was a member of Lincoln Presbyterian Church for many years. She became a Deacon and formed many lasting friendships. Her faith led her to St Germain’s Foundation, in Modesto, which she attended until her death.
Janet is proceeded in death by her parents Wilfred and Marjorie Bennetts, daughter Deborah S. Collins, her brothers, Robert Bennetts (Suzanne) and Stanley Bennetts, sister Barbara Bennetts and sisters-in-law Connie Bennetts and Haru Bennetts.
