Lorraine Margie Gamboni

Lorraine Margie Gamboni drew her last breath on Friday 27 June at home with her children by her side. Lorraine was born in Grand Meadow, Minnesota on 9 August 1926.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Frederic Watson Gamboni, her brother John Lorenzen, and her parents Helen and John H. Lorenzen.  

When she was a senior in high school, Lorraine moved with her family to Denair where they established an egg farm.  After graduating from high school, Lorraine moved to Stockton where she attended Humphrey’s Business College and worked at the District Attorney’s office.  Lorraine married Fred in 1952 and lived the rest of her life in their home in Stockton where they raised their family and which was the scene of holiday gatherings and memorable celebrations.  Lorraine was known for her baking skills and is remembered for the wonderful cookies she prepared for those she loved.  She was a volunteer at her children’s school, St. Bernadette’s, and was a Long Term Care Ombudsman.

After Fred passed in 1987, she kept busy babysitting her beloved grandchildren and socializing with her circle of friends.  She was always game for dinner out, a trip, concert, play, musical, or local fundraiser.  She was a loving wife and mother, devoted grandmother, beloved aunt, and loyal friend.  

Lorraine is survived by her daughter Rae Ellen Charos (George), her son Jeffrey Frederic Gamboni (Kenneth), grandchildren Caitlin Mae Rollins (Chris), George Eric Charos (Shannon), and Arianna.

The family would like to express their gratitude to her caring and devoted caregivers: Lily Ortiz, Maria Leyva, Cesia Amaya, Francisca Ramirez, and Julissa Franco.

In her honor donations may be directed to St. Joseph’s Foundation of San Joaquin, Stockton Beautiful, and Hospice of San Joaquin.

A Requiem Mass is planned for 10am Thursday 10 July at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Linden.  The Rite of Committal will follow at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery.  Please join the family after the services for lunch in the courtyard at Pietro’s in Lodi.
