

Madeline Harris-Watson, age 76, of Stockton, California, was born in Kinder, Louisiana, to Wilton and Mary Simmons. A natural leader with a passion for learning, she graduated as Valedictorian and Homecoming Queen from Carver High School in 1966 and went on to study Social Studies at Southern University. She moved to California in 1968, where she dedicated 25 years as an Emergency Room Registration Supervisor at St. Joseph's Hospital, known for her compassion and commitment to patient care. After retiring, she fostered five children, embodying her love and care for others. A devoted Christian, Madeline was actively involved in her church communities at God's Throne Missionary Baptist Church and later at Amazing Grace Baptist Church, serving in various roles including choir member, minister's wife, Financial Secretary, and leader within the WMU and Mid-Valley District Association. Madeline was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Wilton Jr., and her husband Rev. Van A. Watson. She is survived by her children, foster son, stepdaughters, siblings, 24 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends. Her life of love, faith, and service leaves a lasting legacy that will inspire all who knew her.
