

Maria Oralia Valles who was a long time resident of Stockton CA went to be with the lord on May 23,2017 after a short illness. She was born in Brownsville, Texas on June 28, 1936 to parents Gregorio and Esther Tijerina. There she met Cesario Valles who was her childhood sweetheart, the two were later married and after a couple of years moved to California.
Maria was known for being a wonderful Mother to her eight children. Although she was primarily a homemaker Maria was no stranger to hard work, spending many years working in the fields and then later in canneries.
Maria was known for many things but especially her cooking, she always had an open door policy, and many of her children’s friends thought of her as a second mother. Maria had a love for garage sales and segundas, she also enjoyed trips to casinos with her beloved husband and was known to have many a winning streak.
Maria’s most beloved things on this earth were her family, to her there was nothing more important and that is how her legacy will forever be remembered. She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 63 years Cesario Valles Sr. Maria was Mother to 8 children Maria Abernathy, Michael Valles (Veronica), Cesario Valles JR, Teresa Valles, Rebecca Gutierrez (Valentin), Raquel Guadan (Gerald), Yolanda Guerrero (Peter) and Raymond Valles (Anna), and many others who considered her a mother Ricardo Cruz (Jennifer) she was also a beloved grandmother who leaves 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren. Maria was proceeded in death by her parents Gregorio and Esther Tijerina , her beloved grandson Michael Angel Valles Jr, her “Tata” Pedro Colon Cotto, son- in- law Dickie Joe Abernathy and her sister Eva Campos.
Services have been entrusted to Frisbie-Warren & Carroll Mortuary of Stockton. A visitation will be held Thurs. June 1 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be Fri. June 2 at 1:00 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 203 Washington St, Stockton, CA 95202. Final resting Place will be Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi.
