Marilyn L. Winter, 75, entered into rest surrounded by family on July 6th, 2022. She was born in Lodi, California on November 2nd, 1946. In heaven, Marilyn joins her mother and father, Evelyn and Alfred Strother. She leaves behind her sister Susan Strother, husband James Winter, children Bonnie and Bradley, grandchildren Cierra, Caleb, Noah, and great-granddaughter Zelda. Marilyn worked for Pacific Bell as a phone operator, then went on to run a drive-in (Jolly Kone) and thrift store (Lucy’s 2nd & 3rd Hand Store). She had an entrepreneurial spirit that allowed her to meet many people who later became her friends. Marilyn also had a very keen eye for unique clothes, jewelry, and antiques that would wind up in her thrift store (sometimes liking an item so much it was given her widely known, “Not for Sale” insignia). She was an amazing mom and grandma. Every visit included a toy and some treats, no exceptions. Marilyn’s hobbies were gardening, going to yard sales, cooking, restaurant dining and dancing. Traveling was always on Marilyn’s mind, even more so if slot machines were present. She was always ready to travel, dine out and have fun, especially if it made those around her happy.
Marilyn’s service will be at Oaklawn Memorial Park on July 19th at 10 AM (431 N. Sierra Ave. Oakdale, CA 95361). Following the service will be a reception at Stephanie and Bradley Winter’s house (directions to be given out). We invite everyone to come, share stories and enjoy the company Marilyn made possible.
