It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our mom, Marion Edith Carlson, on January 23, 2024. Marion was born in San Francisco, CA, on March 6, 1923, at St. Mary's Hospital. Preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Edith Parmelee and her two brothers, Lloyd and Charlie Parmelee, who called her "Sis". Marion was raised in San Francisco and graduated from Lowell High School where she was an active member of Alpha Beta Phi Sorority. She married Edward Carlson on February 9, 1943 in San Francisco at St. Agnes Church.
Marion's life was anchored in family ... kind of a "Betty Crocker" mom in the '50's and 60's. Her pride and joy were her four daughters... Diane (Frank) Kennedy, Cheryl (Steve) Rossiter, Janet (Mike) Haroutunian and Lani (John) Maurer. She is survived by 10 grandchildren ...Frank, Laura, Allison, Andrea, Kimberly, Michael, Kacey, Carly, Kirk and Amy. Also survived by 18 great-grandchildren.
Marion was active in St. Joseph's Medical Center Auxiliary for over thirty-six years and received a pin honoring over 10,000 volunteer hours. She was also active in the Widow's Group of Stockton and several committees at Rio Las Palmas Community where she lived for the last ten years. She was a huge S. F. Giants fan. Marion was very creative and could sew, knit and do needlework. She was an avid gardener and cross word puzzle wizard.
Marion loved her annual family trips to Pismo Beach with her daughters and grandchildren for over thirty-five years. She also adored Paul Anka who she saw in concert many times and even danced with him on several occasions !
We deeply appreciate my mother's caregivers, Londa and Lisa, who cared for her with love and respect throughout her final journey.
Marion will be remembered for her unending kindness and deep love of family.
The family requests any remembrances be made to San Joaquin Hospice, 3888 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, CA, 95204 or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Her services were entrusted in the care of DeYoung Shoreline Chapel. Her final resting place is San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery.
