Mary Ellen Barkley

Mary Ellen Barkley, mother to Don Barkley and Kelly Abourezk, passed away on March 20th, 2025. Her final moments were spent peacefully in Modesto, California. Mary Ellen fought a long battle with dementia during the last years of her life. Known for her “let’s have fun” personality, she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Macular degeneration prevented Mary Ellen from being able to perform her greatest passion the last few years of her life, which was painting. Mary Ellen was a very good artist. She loved to travel and go on adventures. Her hobbies included bowling, water skiing, painting pictures, travelling, going dancing and having friends and relatives over to her home. She also loved to go to the beach and listen to the waves and the birds.

Mary Ellen had two children, three grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Doyle Barkley and daughter Kelly Abourezk. She is survived by son Don Barkley, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mary Ellen’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life and not the sadness of her passing.

A Visitation will be held at Frisbie Warren & Carroll Mortuary on April 16th, 2025, at 9:00 A.M. with a Chapel Service at 10:00 A.M. followed by burial services at Parkview Cemetery.
