Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She had a wonderful and full 95 years of life. Mary loved spending time with her family. Her favorite pastime was crocheting and playing bingo. Mary was born in Paris, Arkansas on November 4, 1921 to Eula and Herman Ming. At 21, she went to work at Booneville Sanatorium in Arkansas, where she met her husband A.M. Catlett. In 1943 Mary and A.M., moved to Stockton to start a family. After 22 years of being married, her first husband passed away. She met Robert Halford while working at St. Joseph’s Hospital in housekeeping. They were also married 22 years. She lived in Stockton for 62 years. She recently resided in Galt, CA to be near her daughter.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Winans of Willow Springs, MO, Betty Cummings, of Galt, CA, step daughter, Glenda Perkins of San Jose, CA, and step son David Halford, (Sue) of Penn Valley, CA. She is also survived by her sisters, Marie McDonald, and Betty Cook of Covina, CA, and brother Charlie Ming, of Las Vegas, NV. Mary leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Eula and Herman Ming, first husband, A.M. Catlett, second husband, Robert Halford, and brother, Art Ming.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Hospice of San Joaquin County for all of their support.
Services have been entrusted to Frisbie-Warren & Carroll Mortuary of Stockton. A visitation will be held Wed. May 31 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held Thurs. June 1 at 12:00 pm at Parkview Cemetery, 3661 E. French Camp Road, Manteca.
