

On July 16, 2017, Mike passed away peacefully. Michael David Olivarez was born July 31, 1926 to the late Lepoldo and Lucy Olivarez in Chico, CA. Mike is survived by his wife Sharon, his daughters Michelle, Andrea, and Patty, and two grandsons Thomas and Gavin. He is preceded in death by his daughter Holly. He was raised in Hamilton City along with his six siblings Paul, Jess, Willie, Benjamin, Margaret, and Raymond. Mike enlisted in the Army during WWII and was sent to Germany and Central Europe with the 8th Constabulary Squadron. After WWII he returned home to Hamilton City and eventually settled in Stockton. He went to work for Holly Sugar in Tracy until he was able to fulfill his dream of becoming a business owner. He started out in the service station business and eventually merged into the towing business, Mike's Towing Service, Inc. which has been in Stockton for 57 years. He was instrumental in the establishment of the South Stockton Business & Merchants Association in 1969 and also the San Joaquin Towing Association, Served as Reserve SJCO Deputy Sheriff under Mike Canlis. He is also a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge #218, California State Sheriff's Association, 11-99 Foundation and the American Legion. DeYoung Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Olivarez family. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 1:00 pm at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St., Stockton, CA. An inurnment will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 1:30 pm at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Rd., Dixon, CA. Published in The Record from July 28 to July 30, 2017
