Oklahoma. She was the youngest of ten children. She died peacefully in Stockton, California
on January 4, 2022.She goes to joyfully join her husband, Bob (2011), of 58 years, her
grandson, Ross (2016), and her nine brothers and sisters.
Mona was five when the family loaded up the car and left Oklahoma. They landed in Edison
Villa in Stockton, CA. Mona lived all of the rest of her life in Stockton. She graduated from
Stockton High School and then worked as a telephone operator. She married the love of her
life, Robert Ross in1953 and had two daughters, Mona and Janice. During her marriage she
worked part time at Macy’s and then at the office of Dr. Player on the Miracle Mile. All the while
she lived the life of a policeman’s wife. When they retired, the couple spent their Octobers in
Maui until their first grandchild arrived. From then on they were Momo and Papa and were
devoted to their grandchildren.
Jeane was patient, quick with a kind word and a beautiful smile. Even when faced with hard
times she chose a positive outlook and kept moving forward. She loved her family
unconditionally and was never quick to anger or judgement.
Jeane was always ready for an adventure. She loved the trips back to Oklahoma with her
sisters, brothers, daughters, nieces and nephews. She loved traveling cross country with her
husband. Even the little excursions to nature preserves, to visit new places, or just lunch
delighted her.
Mona Jeane enjoyed researching the family ancestry and was the family member who initiated
our tree. She took great pride in her garden. She could spend hours snipping, shaping and just
enjoying her beautiful backyard with its many birds and plants. Her artistic talent extended to
oil paintings. Her lovely paintings hang in many homes of family and friends. Jeane will live on
in the memories of family members and friends and all whose lives she touched.
Mona Jeane is survived by daughters Mona Ogden (Phil 2009) and Janice Bova (Gene). She
was Momo to her grandchildren Taylor (Mike), Parker, Ross (2016), and great grandchildren,
Dylan and Lucas, many beloved nieces and nephews and dear friends.
In one of her many notebooks Mona had copied down this quote, “To live in the hearts we
leave behind is not to die”. This was a quote that was true and of much comfort to her. She left
it as a comfort to those of us who love and miss her so much. Mona will be laid to rest at the
San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery.
