Huntington Beach, California. Ten siblings followed after Pauline, whom she helped care for. Pauline passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 2, 2016 at the age of 95 years old.
A life long resident and attended local Stockton schools. Pauline began working at the age of 13, harvesting the fields, in packing sheds, shipyards and canneries. A member of Teamsters Union Local #601, she retired from Del Monte Cannery with the highest seniority for a woman in 1983. In her youth, she enjoyed dancing to the "big bands" at local dance halls with her sisters & friends. She took pleasure in hosting parties & BBQ's at her home surrounded by family and friends. She volunteered often and attended dances & dinner events at the Karl Ross Post #16. Her favorite
pastime was cooking, sewing, crocheting, and baking chocolate chip cookies for her grandsons. Through the years she cared and adored her pet dogs.
She was predeceased by her son Leo "Jr" Castaneda, grandson Justin Castaneda and
Raymond J. Lucas husband of 38 years of marriage; siblings, John Rey, Margaret (Maggie) Estrada, Gilbert Rey, Raymond Rey, Ernestine (Tina) Cohen and Willard Rey.
Devoted mother to Jerry (Terre) Castaneda. Dear grandmother to Leo T. (Roxanna) Castaneda and Eric J. (Tricia) Castaneda; great grandmother to Erika,
Derrick, Abrica "Abby", Isabella, Jennifer and Eric "Jr.", Castaneda and great-great grandmother to Mickah Medrano. Loving sister to Connie Lopez of Los Angeles; Gloria (Art) Esquivel of Fresno; Eleanor (Nena) Gonzales and Martha (Marty) Melendez of Stockton. Many nephews and nieces survive her.
