She will never be forgotten, for she is now free from pain and sickness. She's in God's kingdom along with Butch. Mona, what can I say to such a special lady.  You had such a beautiful, loving heart, and soul.  Thank you, soooo much for being a part of mine and my moms life. You always made us feel a part of the family and you always took time to ask how we were doing. I thank you, for helping my mom during her radiation, when I could not. You helped her and bonded with her and I appreciate that because, only you could help her through something,I could not understand.  Thank You, for being you...you will always be missed and remebered. When you see my nana and uncle David let them know we are still missing them. One thing for sure between you, granny and nana heaven sure has some good food. R.I.P. Mona, till we meet again.

Mona, you have always welcomed me and Lina into the family, but I think it was when you were taking me for my radiation treatment that we became closer, and I thank you for that.  You always had a smile and a welcome for me and always asked about my health.  I will always remember you as a vivacious warm hearted person.  I valued your friendship and your caring. My ahma, I miss you so much already. It's only been a week, I can only imagine the heartache I will feel from now on with a huge part of my life missing. As far back as I can remember, I don't ever remember you yelling at me or being mad at me. If you were, you never showed it. All I know from you is kindness and unconditional love. We always had a special bond and been close, even though not as close as we were when I was a teen, we always had that bond.I can remember as far back as the days you would babysit me and David when you lived on that corner house on south side. I remember fondly the days you would be picking me up from school, to the shopping trips at the mall when I got paid I always asked, "what do you want ahma?" or "what do you need ahma?" Yet you would always say nothing because you wanted me to save my money or use it on only myself. You ALWAYS put everyone else before yourself.  I remember the days of driving around with you before I got my license, just me, you and Austin, music blasting. I remember coming to you for those heart to heart talks when I was at odds with my mom and you always listened and never judged. When I was dating a new guy you always knew the scoop because I told you everything about them. I could always count on you and you were always there for me. It's hard for me to find words to express how phenomenal a person you are. If I grow up to be even half the woman you were, I will be for the better. You are an extraordinary woman ahma, tenacious and awe-inspiring, with such a beautiful, loving, pure heart. You were the heart and soul of this family and I don't know what we're going to do without you here. I can still here in my head you saying "Ahma loves her nay nay." Your fight against your cancer was heroic and admirable, I don't think I could have been as strong if I were in your position. SO much  fight in such a tiny person. I saw you struggling towards the end with your pain and that broke my heart, but you never complained, and kept your head held high. Until the very end you were worried about everyone else before yourself, just like you always have been. I know you are not struggling anymore and are free of pain right now, but I am selfish and want you here with me now. But you are one of those rare gems of a person that are hard to come by now these days, they don't make them like you anymore and God needed you home for better things. I love you with all that I am ahma, please come visit me now and then, maybe leave a penny or something on my pillow so I know you were there ;) You and granny are probably up there cooking papas and beans for my dad and uncle butch because you never could keep still, lol. I'll be seeing you in heaven one day grandma, until then, just know I will carry you FOREVER in my heart.

Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy. Grandma with that being said, I know that when I take walks with my family I can express to them that the bright star gleaming on us, is your love beaming down expressing your love and happiness. Your love for your family has been an example to those who have witnessed and will always be remembered.
As the Matriarch of our family, you had the intuition that us grandkids did not have but have since been able to understand why the decisions we were making were not right. You taught with love, just as Jesus Christ taught. This is why you were so approachable in times of need. If there is one person that I know who lived a life  who emulated Christ, it was you grandma. I love you Grandma and thank you for the memories that will forever bless my life.
Since I was the first grandchild, you are MY Grandma, your everyone elses "ahma," that is what makes our relationship so special. I apologize that I was so far away for the last years of your life, but I will tell you that my last visit with you was one that I can replay each day. I felt love, enjoyment, and devotion but most of all I felt honored to say I am your grandson. The grandson of an amazing woman who walked and lived the life as a disciple of Christ. I do know that when I need to hear from you, I can look into the sky and see your happiness and love by finding that bright star gleaming down. I love you so much, and I know that I will see you again.

Mom, today we start to say good-by to you, and I am really scared. What is mine and my kids lives going to be like without you. I just don't know! Even though Steph and David are adults, you never stop being a mom, you have showed me that so many times. You never stopped being a mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. You have played a major part in all or our lives and I'm really going to miss you. During the last few months, it got to be really hard for you and I just want to let you know, it was an honor to help take care of you. Thank you mom for showing me what unconditional love is. It's time to be free and go fly with the angels, I know you will fit right in. I love you mom!

Ahma from the first time I met you on Christmas Day at Granny's you made me feel welcome and loved as if I was always part of your family.  Your warm embrace and ability to love unconditionally have taught us all so much about the importance of family.  You were always cooking, cleaning or mothering something.  Ever busy, it was difficult to watch you fight against stupid cancer these last four months.  Your strength during your battle with cancer was unbelievable.  Although we were there to support you, you were more concerned about us.  Your love for your family runs deep and we are all blessed to have been part of your life.  Thank you so much for your insight into life, and the depth of your love.  I will miss you so much.  Say hi to my Mom and Butch, see you in heaven.

To my sis n law Mona, where do I start, by saying I will miss you dearly, n love u mucho! Lots of family don't remember me staying with you n my brother when I was small! You are so much a big part of my life. Also you were my god sister! And that meant alot to me! You were there to help my mom when we had big holidays at the house! I remember n so does my sister Tommie! You have a big heart and gave what you had to your family! And as for your children you love them unconditionally! And I can see the love for your grandchildren n great-grandchildren! Sis what can I say a small woman like you fought to the end with a big smile n love for all your family! Ahma....there is not a day that goes by that I don't think about you. You are truly a blessing. There is not enough words to say to explain a grandmothers love because no matter what they love you unconditionally. I ask you please Ahma to give me the strength to get through this but I know that it will take time. I at least have some kind of peace knowing that your not suffering anymore Ahma but to think I won't be able to come over and eat your famous meals...to hear you always ask Mija are you hungry?...to give you a hug and kiss and tell me to take care of Cianni and I and be careful, just kills me inside Ahma. You will be forever loved and missed. I know you are a beautiful angel shining down on us now...I can't wait to see you in my dreams!! I love you more then words can say Ahma...You are truly one in a million!! ;)

Where do I begin...What can I say about my grandma aka ahma that hasn't already been said. She was a wonderful person inside and out. She loved everyone with her whole heart. She was never negative towards anyone no matter what choices good or bad they made in their lives, she always had her way of talking to them. She would literally give you the clothes on her back if she even thought for a second you needed them. She was a good mom, an awesome grandma but an even better great grandma, I know this because one of her great grandchildren is my son Cruz or as she would call him "mi rey". I thought I knew what love was but I had no idea what is was or what is was to fill it until my grandma held my son Cruz, the love she had for him was and is beyond words. This mothers day we got her an angel that said "Theres No Place Like Grandma's" from Cruz, grandma's house aka ahma's house was my lil man's 2nd home. He loved it there! She would always have the cartoons on tv and the tubs full of toys ready for him everytime he would come to visit, she would sit on the ground and just watch him play. I loved it when she would speak spanish to him because I think he learned more than I thought because the last couple days when he gets his little hands on the remote he always changes the channel to the same spanish channel and sits and watches it and laughs at it like he knows what they are saying, I would like to think this is a part of ahma living within him. Well ahma I could go on and on about how great of a person you were. I just wanna say we love you and you will truely be missed. And I also would like to say thank you for always being there for us. Brandon(my hubby) thinks the world of you and has said that he literally feels like a chunk of his heart is missing. I love you ahma!!!!!

Mom you will be greatly missed by us. My heart is breaking everyday knowing that you are no longer here with me.
