
Rosendo “Russ” DeAnda passed away at home in Elk Grove, CA October on 18 2023 at 92 years of age. Rosendo was born, raised, and lived in Stockton for 79 Years and was an active member in St. George’s Catholic Church, St. Bernadettes, St. Lukes, The Cathedral of the Annunciation, and the Church of the Presentation. Mr. DeAnda is survived by his loving wife of over 66 years, Rita; his children—Steve, Paul, Elizabeth, Jose, and Luis, daughters-in law, Sue, Wakana and Eri, and by 10 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren, and innumerable nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends who shared his love and his exemplary personal integrity.
Mr. DeAnda attended Stockton schools–often while still working seasonally as a farm field worker picking crops. He graduated from Stockton High School. Following his Army service in the Korean conflict, he studied at Humphreys Business School after which he worked for many years as an office manager and electrical contractor. His next job was as general manager at Stockton Rural Cemetery. He was active in The Knights of Columbus and achieved the third degree and was also an active member of the Lions Club, and the Society of St. Vincent DePaul, providing person-to-person service to the needy, and a Little League coach. Mr. DeAnda actively supported Senior Showcase musical theater productions in Stockton, was a board member for the Stockton Choral and supported his wife’s activities with Mariachi Cali and their musical performances. He was also a league bowler and avidly made jigsaw puzzles, enjoyed social poker games with family and liked to fish.
Mr. DeAnda was preceded in death by his parents, Santiago and Maria; brothers Antonio, Ricardo, and Cenobio; and by his sister Guadalupe. He is survived by his sister, Alicia (and her husband, Jose) Medina, and his brother Raul (and his wife, Socorro) DeAnda.
A visitation will be held Sunday, 5 November 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at DeYoung Shoreline Chapel, 7676 Shoreline Drive, Stockton, California. A closed casket visitation will follow for an hour with a Rosary at 5PM.
An open casket visitation will be held Monday, 6 November 2023 from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM, with a closed casket visitation until the beginning of the Mass of Christian burial beginning at 10:00 AM at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 5882 N. Ashley Lane, Stockton, California. With committal to follow at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery, 719 E. Harding Way, Stockton.
