Soledad "Sally" Olivarez, a beloved matriarch whose home was a haven of warmth, laughter, and love, passed away peacefully on July 19th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at her home. She was 95 years old.
Born on April 18th, 1930, in Cañadas de Obregon, Jalisco, Mexico, a town she often recalled with deep affection, Sally's early life laid the foundation for the remarkable woman she would become. Her determination and thirst for knowledge were evident in her self-taught ability to read, write, and speak English, a testament to her resilient spirit.
Sally now rests in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved husband of 59 years, Alfonso Olivarez. She also joins their sons, Alfonso Olivarez Jr., Robert "Bobby" Olivarez, and grandson Robert "Bobby" Olivarez, who preceded her in death.
She was the cherished daughter of Jose Jimenez and Rosalia Olivares with Sally being the sixth child of a total of eight siblings. She is survived by her best friend and sister, Maria Rabago, and loving brother Jesus Jimenez. Sally leaves behind a legacy of love that will be carried on by her devoted children, Rosie Lomeli (Carlos), MaryAnn Prieto, Rita Correa (Edward), and granddaughter Cynthia Curiel who she lovingly raised and who called her “Mom” .
Affectionately called "Sallymom" by her grandchildren, Brenda Duarte, Beckie Prieto, Christina Del Prato, Jessica Adams, Joseph Prieto, Suzanne Adam, and Daniel Correa, will forever cherish memories of her cooking all their favorite things, singing and dancing with them or cheering from the sidelines of soccer and baseball games. Sally's joy extended to many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were touched by her boundless love.
Sally's home was a true reflection of her spirit, always filled with love, the cheerful sound of her whistling, and the aroma of delicious food, ready to welcome anyone who walked through her door. She was a woman of incredible strength, unwavering determination, and profound beauty, serving as a role model and the true heart of her family.
She often shared a heartwarming saying, "You are going to heaven with your shoes on," believing it meant a person was blessed, kind, worthy, and destined for a beautiful afterlife. We are certain that our dearest Sally has indeed gone to heaven with her shoes on.
