

On April 6, 2024, Mrs. Ann Eckert of Stony Plain went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 95 years. She will be remembered for her strong Christian faith and her love for her husband Peter.
Anna Reimer was born in 1928 in Lethbridge, AB. She was the third of four children born to Jacob A. and Agatha (Rempel) Reimer, who had recently settled on a farm near Coaldale after moving from Leonidowka, Russia. In 1938 the family moved to Countess, where Ann made many friends. She completed her high school and one year of Bible School in Three Hills before marrying Peter Eckert on October 26, 1949 at the Rosemary Mennonite Church.
Ann and Pete had four children: Ruth, David, Betty, and Fred. Over time they married and eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren were added to the family.
Ann and Pete lived in a number of communities in Alberta before putting down roots in Sherwood Park in 1965. In 2001 they sold their home on 21 Hazel Street and lived briefly in a condo in North Edmonton. They moved to Stony Plain in 2002 where they made new friends and enjoyed many good years. In December 2022 they moved to the lodge at Forest Ridge in Stony Plain where Pete continued to faithfully care for his dear wife.
Ann was predeceased by her father, mother, brothers Jake and Abe, sister Agatha, daughter-in-law Terri and grandson Dougie Muzika. She is survived by her husband Peter; her children: Ruth (Walter) Muzika, Dave Eckert, Betty (Rod) Giebelhaus, and Fred (Donna) Eckert; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held for Ann at 2:30 pm on Friday, April 19 at East Parkland Bible Church, 4704 – 79 Avenue, Stony Plain, AB.
