It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Annie Miller on July 24, 2025 at the age of 94.
Annie was born on September 24, 1930, to John and Elizabeth Troudt and was one of sixteen children. She married Wilfred Miller on November 29, 1951, and they farmed in the Stony Plain area for many years before moving to town in 1972. Annie was blessed with four children, and she was an amazing mother. She was also an incredible cook, baker and a talented cake decorator. Her garden and flowers were admired by many right up until her passing. She certainly had a green thumb.
In 2018 at the age of 88 and after living on her own for 25 years, Annie moved to Vanderwell Heritage Place in Slave Lake to be closer to family. This transition was hard at first but once she settled in, she enjoyed all the activities the lodge offered, especially bingo and when the old-time fiddle band would entertain once a month. She always had to be busy doing something and for years she would knit toques for the school kids in town. She donated over 700 toques over the last few years! A huge accomplishment we are all so proud of.
Annie was predeceased by her husband Wilfred, son Irwin and many family members and friends.
Annie will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Sharon (Ken) Vornbrock, Lorna (Kevin) Merwin and Shawna (David) Currie; her grandchildren: Mackenzie, Curtis, Candace, Melisa, Heather, Myles, Robert and Meagan; her great-grandchildren, Noah, Callie, Evan, Kai, Owen and Carsten as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Beach Corner, 1533 Parkland Drive, Parkland County, AB on Friday August 1, 2025 at 11:00 am with burial in the church cemetery immediately after and a light lunch to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Stars Air Ambulance or the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation are appreciated.
