It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Irvine Saxer, who departed this world on March 28, 2026, in Edmonton, Alberta, at the age of 91. Born in the Hollysprings district and beloved by many, Irvine was known for his kindness, unwavering dedication to family and friends, and the positive impact he made within his community. His legacy of compassion, laughter, and resilience will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
In 1958, he married Sara Bitner. Irvine was a truck driver for most of his life, and he loved to play cards, do jigsaw puzzles and work on his acreage when he wasn’t working. He also was a big Oilers fan (although he pretended to cheer for Calgary). Irvine had a great sense of humour and loved to tease everyone.
Left behind with cherished memories are his wife, Sara, and daughter, Joy; Emily Blackford and Fred Saxer, numerous family members, as well as many friends and colleagues. Irvine was predeceased by his parents Willi and Freida Saxer, and his siblings Willie Saxer, Freda Babcock, Lena Dribnenky, and Hans Saxer.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 10th at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Rosenthal, in Stony Plain, Alberta, at 1:00 pm, where all are welcome to gather and celebrate the life of Irvine.
