Jenna Kaylin Williams, 24, passed away unexpectedly with her family by her side on October 31, 2024, in Edmonton, AB.
Born on September 8, 2000, Jenna was the beloved daughter of Bryan and Colleen Williams. She was a devoted sister to Karly and Jared and a cherished friend to many.
Jenna spent her childhood years in Valleyview before moving to Edson, which she always considered home. Jenna moved to Edmonton in 2018 to attend the University of Alberta, earning a BSc degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology. At the time of her passing, Jenna was working toward completing her Master’s degree in Psychology.
Her passion for helping others was evident in everything she did. Jenna dreamed of making a meaningful impact in the field of mental health. She was an advocate for dignity, respect, and the de-stigmatization of mental illness. In Jenna’s own words: “Just because someone is struggling now, it doesn’t mean it will last forever. But they deserve the same dignity and kindness no matter what stage in their journey they are at.”
Jenna had a deep love for her family, especially her dog Louie, whom she affectionately called her “Baby Lou.” Above all, Jenna enjoyed spending time with loved ones. She lived her life with kindness, strength, resilience, and compassion for others. Her infectious laughter, witty sense of humour, and the love and warmth she brought to everyone around her will leave a lasting impression and be forever missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Jenna was a dedicated blood donor, giving at every possible opportunity. Honouring her final wishes, Jenna gave the ultimate gift of life through organ donation.
Jenna is survived by her parents, Bryan and Colleen; her sister, Karly; and her brother, William “Jared” Williams, all of Edson, AB. She will also be deeply missed by her maternal grandparents, Ronald and Barbara “Janice” Tarr of Spruce Grove, AB; her aunts and uncles, Jason Tarr, Lynnette Tarr, Laureen Horness (David), Corrine White (Kevin), Sheri Williams; and her cousins Ashley Kopen (Sean, Emeline, and Saffine), Justin White (Brittney, Winston), Rianna Goller (Tyson, Layne, and Tate), and Ryan Horness, along with countless other family members and friends who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Marjorie and William “Bill” Williams, as well as her uncles William “Glen” and Douglas Williams.
A memorial service in honor of Jenna’s life will be held at 1 PM on Friday, November 29, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edson, AB. The family invites all to join them in celebrating Jenna’s life.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Community Care Foundation of Edson and District can be made in Jenna’s memory.
