Prescott James Richards passed away inexplicably and unexpectedly while on vacation with his family in California. In his six short years, Prescott made an enormous impression on everyone he met. Described by so many as unlike any boy they had ever met. Wise and insightful beyond his years, he loved to make others smile, always ready with a kind word and hug for anyone who needed it. He lived by the rule that no day could start or end without a snuggle and he gave them willingly to any of his people.
He loved being silly, creating funny nicknames for many people he loved with an ever-present twinkle in his eye. He was sweet and patient (mostly) with his younger brother, Campbell. He willingly shared with everyone as his love was not of toys but of his people and his experiences. His life was full of travel and adventures with trips to the lake, learning to fish, travelling to the Shuswap’s and even over to Europe. For Prescott though, it was never about what he was doing or where he was doing it, it was always about who he was doing it with. When playing soccer, he never wanted to stop, willing to play every position just to stay on the field and help his team. He worked so hard and we loved to watch him play. He was learning to swim and to skate and was recently accepted to the Lil Oilers program to try his hand at hockey. Prescott was a curious little boy who loved to invent new things which he would proudly display for all to admire.
Prescott will be forever remembered and loved by his proud Mommy and Daddy (Treena and Jim Richards) and his treasured younger brother Campbell. His memory is also cherished by Grandpa and Grandma (Sid and Shannon Davis), Papa and Nana (J.R. and Ronna Richards), Aunty Ronna (Antoniuk), Uncle Dale (Antoniuk), Aunty DeeDee (McKnight), Uncle John (McKnight), Uncle Garnet (Richards), Aunty Shannon (Richards), Uncle Patrick (Richards), Aunty Nancy (Richards), and cousins Max, Amber, Kate, Eric, Jarrod, Samuel, Eli and Soren.
Prescott will be celebrated Wednesday, January 31 at 10:00 am at the Heritage Pavilion at 5100 - 41 Ave, Stony Plain. In honor of his love of plaid shirts, everyone in attendance is encouraged to wear something plaid. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to Kid Sport Parkland as Prescott is not a fan of kids not being able to play.
“I love you to the moon and the stars, to Pluto and Mars and all the way back to my self-heart (and don’t forget Uranus!)” –Prescott Richards
Sweet dreams, sweet boy.
