Charles L. VanDunk passed away on April 6, 2011. He was 83 years old. Charles was born on June 19, 1927 in Suffern, NY to William and Emma (DeFries) VanDunk. Charles is a Korean War Vet and served our country as a CPL in the United States Army from 1951-1953. Charles lived in Stony Point for 7 years, prior lived in West Haverstraw for over 40 years. He worked as a Line Worker for Ford Motor Company in Mahwah, NJ and retired in June 1982. He was an honorary member of the Wayne Hose Fire Co #1 in Stony Point, and was a social member at Volunteer Hose Co #2 in West Haverstraw. Charles loved the Mets, his grandchildren and family. Charles is survived by his sons Darrell (Ellen) and Paul; daughter Linda VanDunk; and six grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife, Theda, who passed away in 1993 and several brothers and sisters. Viewing will be held on Saturday from 7-9 pm and Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Higgins Funeral Home in Stony Point, NY. Services will be held on Monday at Higgins Funeral Home at 10am, followed by burial at Brick Church Cemetery, Monsey, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the VanDunk Family.
