

John P. McKenna of Stony Point passed away peacefully on December 23, 2014 at home, surrounded by his family. He was predeceased in death by his loving wife Joanne. John was born in Maspeth, NY on October 26, 1938 to Mary Ellen (Doherty) and Francis McKenna. For 20 years he worked as an MTA bus driver in Manhattan. After his retirement from the MTA he drove a school bus for Haverstraw Transit.John is survived by his siblings Patricia Clifford & Frank McKenna and predeceased by siblings, Margaret Grimes & Babe McKenna. He is also survived by his four adoring children and their spouses, Colleen & Michael Amideneau of Tomkins Cove, Tara & Robert Conlan of Theills, Mary Ellen & Bill Winters of Stony Point, and John T. & Amy McKenna of Montgomery. John's greatest pride and joy came from his nine grandchildren: Katie & Sarah Amideneau, Jack, Emma, & Riley Conlan, Lily & Liam Winters and Julia & Logan McKenna. John is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Everyone who met John instantly admired him. John loved all sports and was an avid NY Yankees and NY Giants fan.The McKenna Family will receive friends and family on Sunday from 3 to 9pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, 73 North Liberty Drive, Stony Point. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10am at Immaculate Conception, Stony Point. Burial will follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Nanuet. In lieu of flowers, donations in John P. McKenna's memory may be made to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, P.O.
