

Born in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn on Dec. 13, 1950 to Salvatore and Virginia Schipani, Lucille grew up in Brooklyn, graduating from New Utrecht High School in 1968. Soon after, she married husband, Jeffrey in April of 1970. Lucille relocated to Garnerville where she began a daycare for 35 years, raising hundreds of children in the North Rockland area and earning the name, "Mama Lu". In 1995, she earned an Associate Degree in Nursing and began working at Helen Hayes Hospital on weekends, caring for the critically ill. As a communicant of St. Gregory Barbarigo, she taught CCD communion classes. Lucille is survived by husband, Jeffrey, daughter, Allyson (Michael) Dwyer, son Jonathan (Dorothy) of Stony Point, sister, Bernadette Greene, brother, Anthony Schipani of Brooklyn, grandchildren, Teagan, Natalie, Aubrey, Emery and Jack, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by grandson, Owen in 2008. She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing this special woman. The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, August 20th from 2-4 & 6-9pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in Stony Point. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, 10am at St. Gregory Barbarigo, Garnerville, NY. The family requests in lieu of flowers, all donations be made to United Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stokum Lane, New City, NY 10956.
