Shirley A. Brooks

Shirley A. O'Dell Brooks passed away Friday, February 21, 2014 at the age of 76 with her husband of 57 years, Charles E. Brooks Jr., by her side. Shirley was born on August 8, 1937 to Mary and Roy O'Dell of Stony Point. Shirley was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, friend and homemaker who enjoyed baking, sewing and crocheting. She was a proud member of DAR. She is predeceased by her siblings Sharon Dempsey, Douglas O'Dell, Richard O'Dell, Marie Babcock, and Roy O'Dell, all of Stony Point; and beloved nephew Ronnie O'Dell of Stony Point. She is survived by her husband, Charles E. Brooks Jr.; children Robin Ann Brooks, Cheryl Brooks Lewis, Heidi (Robert) Lewis, and Charles E. Brooks III and his wife Danielle; grandchildren Robert Charles Lewis, Derek Lewis, Hunter Brooks, Cheyanne Brooks, all of Stony Point, Thomas Carlson, Heather Carlson, Kaitlane Lewis of Tennessee; her brother Leonard O'Dell of Kansas; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Marian (Robert) Sheridan, Geraldine (Ralph) Pacella and their families; as well as her lifelong friend, Karol McElroy of Stony Point. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 7-9pm and Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home in Stony Point. Services will be held on Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Stony Point, followed by interment at Mt. Repose Cemetery, Haverstraw. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, St. John's in the Wilderness, or First United Methodist Church, Stony Point, NY.
