

Carol Ann Stearns died peacefully on December 19th, 2017 surrounded by her two closest friends and family members. A longtime resident of Boston, she retired to her homes in Annisquam and Hobe Sound, Florida. Carol graduated from Annhurst College and received her MBA from Suffolk University. She held several management positions in Boston hospitals retiring in 2007 from Children’s Hospital. A strong, charismatic individual Carol made many, many friends over the years and enjoyed their loyalty and comraderie. In retirement, she embraced the Annisquam community volunteering in several organizations and providing leadership as president of the Annisquam Sewing Circle founded in 1837 and one of the oldest continuous independent benevolent societies of women in the US. Carol loved to read, travel, play golf and she adored her Yorkshire terriers. An avid lover of opera she travelled to opera houses in many cities and countries. Her favorite being the Wexford Opera Festival in Ireland, a festival she attended for ten consecutive years, most recently this past October. She is survived by her brother Ray Stearns, sister and brother in law Michele and Jim Cronin, a niece, Nina Surfus, and nephews Chris and Tim Stearns and Michael and Peter Cronin in addition to friends Jocelyn Ramella and Eileen Sporing. A celebration of her life will take place in the spring. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Preservation Campaign, Annisquam Village Church, 820 Washington St., Gloucester, MA 01930. Arrangements are under the direction of Aycock Funeral Home Young & Prill Chapel, Stuart, Florida.
