

Christopher Montier Barrett passed away in his home in Stuart, Florida May 13, 2014. He was born in Flagler Hospital on September 2, 1953 to the late Lt. Col.(retired) Kenneth M. Barrett and Doris Christine Abraham. He was baptized and confirmed in Trinity Parish Church where he served as an acolyte and sang in the choir. He was a graduate of the class of 1972 at Saint Joseph Academy. Many will remember him as The One Man Band at St. Joe sporting events. He was sworn into the U. S. Coast Guard by his father and attended the Coast Guard Academy before shipping out on the largest Coast Guard icebreaker of the time, The Glacier. He completed two Arctic to Antarctica cruises before accepting a post in Long Beach, Ca. He served in Fort Myers, New Symrna Beach, St. Petersburg and Jupiter Inlet, retiring in 1995. He was a true fisher of men. He grew up in the waters of the Matanzas Bay and on the shores of Vilano Beach and Anastasia Island. He lived for and on the water and was fortunate to have followed his dream. He was a man of quiet faith, strong character and personal integrity. His open heart and hardy laugh were a tonic to all who knew him and he was lucky to have been surrounded by so many wonderful family members and friends. His sudden passing has left a hole in the hearts of all of us who loved and cared for him. He is survived by his wife of 36 years Maureen, a daughter Amanda Christine Barrett, a son Christopher Montier Barrett, Jr., a granddaughter Paetyn Rae Barrett and his brother and sister-in- law Kenneth Montier Barrett, Jr., and Ellie Potts Barrett. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 10 AM, Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Pavilion 0 near the Coast Guard Auxiliary Building at Sandsprit Park in Stuart. A memorial service celebrating his gentle spirit will be conducted at Trinity Parish Church, Downtown St. Augustine, Florida, at 10 a. m. Friday, May 23, 2014 .
