Dolores Latella Vizziello

Dolores was born on June 10, 1935, to the late Frances (Corso) Corniello and Ralph Latella. She grew up in West Haven, Connecticut, where she met the love of her life, Joe “Vizz.” They shared over 68 wonderful years of marriage together.

In her younger years, Dolores worked for the UI Company in New Haven, Connecticut. Throughout her life, she held many occupations, but perhaps her favorite was cake decorating at Mary’s Bakery in Hamden, Connecticut, where she brought joy to many through her beautiful and delicious creations.

Hamden was where Dolores spent most of her adult life. She was actively involved in church, school, and social activities, always giving her time and heart to her community. Later, she became a snowbird, enjoying time in Boca Raton, Florida, before more recently making her home in Stuart, Florida. No matter where she lived, Dolores had a special gift for turning friends into family.

Dolores had many passions and hobbies. She loved cooking, baking, knitting, quilting, sewing, traveling, bowling, and golfing — and the list truly goes on. Her cooking and baking will be deeply missed by all, especially her pizza, eggplant parmigiana, Italian cream pie, and beautifully prepared antipasto platters.

She is survived by her three daughters, Rosemary (Mark) Engengro, Jo-Ann Vizziello (Philip Colarusso), and Francine (Michael) Hesse. They will miss her greatly and feel blessed to have had such a wonderful mother. “Grandma Del” also leaves behind eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren (and still counting), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, including a special nephew, James Latella. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Latella.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on March 6 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., and a reception from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., all at Aycock Funeral Home – Young & Prill Chapel, 6801 SE Federal Highway, Stuart, FL 34997.

A service will also be held in Connecticut in early summer. The family will share details at a later date.
