Elizabeth “Betty” M. (O’Reilly) Strona, age 91 of Hobe Sound, FL passed away on June 27, 2021. Born August 11, 1929, in the Bronx, New York to John A. O’Reilly and Elizabeth (Browne) O’Reilly. After leaving New York with her family, she resided in Palm Beach County for 54 years, 52 of which were in North Palm Beach. She moved to Martin County in 2012.
Betty was employed by Southern Bell and AT&T for over 46 years, a life member of the Communication Workers of America (CWA) and the Telephone Pioneers. Betty was a lifelong Roman Catholic. She was a founding member of St. Clare Catholic Church in North Palm Beach and is a current member of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Hobe Sound. She was extraordinarily dedicated to her family.
She is survived by her cherished children, Susan Salmen of Charlotte, NC; Stephen Strona (Nancy) of Hobe Sound, FL; and Michelle Villwock (Tyson) of Hobe Sound, FL; her seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 67 years, Joseph Strona Sr.; her cherished son, Joseph Strona Jr.; her daughter in law Beverly (Fabben) Strona; her son in law Arthur M. Salmen; and her only and dear sister Patricia (O’Reilly) Healy and Patricia’s husband Jacob Healy.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Hobe Sound on August 8, 2021 at 12:00 noon, and she will be laid to rest at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens, West Palm Beach on August 8, 2021 immediately following the Mass.
